lyrics
This is the summer of truth or treason
and the streets are full of marching people
trying to stand for right and reason
and they're being met with shields and truncheons
Out in the night, down on their knees
Know what they need? Boots on the streets!
Screaming to be heard, dying to be free, know what it takes--boots on the streets!
Cracks are growing in the walls of castles
Anger growing and it's boiling over
Time has come to speak truth to power
to shine a light in the darkest hour

A fantastic album. I can see why they didn't continue under the name The Evens, as it's a different sound with the bass added. Coriky is the Evens + Joe Lally from Fugazi on bass. If you can imagine The Evens with a slightly more funky, aggressive sound like Fugazi... that's what you get! And there's no way that can ever go wrong. What a great debut album!! smiledozer
Heady hardcore punk from Black Aubergine has groove, heft, and an experimental edge percolating behind the blown-out surface. Bandcamp New & Notable May 23, 2023

Hmmm. I thought maybe there was a brief nod on “Security” to The Effigies song of the same name. Probably a coincidence. Looking forward to the new LP! Joe
